A notice board
that keeps up

Swap a few of the drawing pins for a screen. Your church’s services, news and photos on any TV in the hall or foyer, changed from your phone.

A screen where the pinboard used to be

Most churches have a notice board that tells the story of the last few months. There is a poster for a harvest supper that has already happened, a rota that has been crossed out twice, a curling photograph of the youth group and, somewhere underneath, the details of next week’s coffee morning. It is nobody’s fault. Keeping a board fresh is one more job for people who already do plenty.

A digital notice board is simply a screen that does the same work. An ordinary television or monitor in your hall, foyer or porch shows a gentle loop of slides: this Sunday’s services, what is on in the week, who to ask about the lunch club, photographs from the anniversary tea. When something changes, you change the slide from your phone and the screen catches up. When an event is over, its slide takes itself down.

What you need

Very little. Chrestos Digital Signage works with any television or computer monitor that has an HDMI socket, including the spare one that has been sitting in the vestry. We post you a small display unit, 95mm by 65mm, which plugs into the screen and joins your WiFi or a network cable. It uses about half a watt of electricity, so it can happily stay on all week. If you are still choosing a screen, our page on church display screens covers sizes and where to put one.

Our designers build a set of slide templates in your church’s own colours, so the first slide you make looks right without any design work. After that you write slides in the Chrestos Cloud on a computer or in the Chrestos app on your phone, give each one a start and finish date, and choose how long it stays on the screen.

Who keeps it up to date

Usually whoever keeps the paper board going now. The difference is that they can do it from home, from the bus or from the back pew, and they can set up a month of notices in one sitting. If your church or circuit already uses Chrestos, some of the work does itself: service times from Planmaker, news from your website and posts from Loudhailer can appear on the screen without anybody retyping them.

You do not need a Chrestos website to have a digital notice board. Digital Signage can be leased on its own, alongside any of our packages or none at all.

What it costs

£25 + VAT a month for your first screen and £15 + VAT a month for each one after that, with no setup fee and no minimum contract. That covers the display unit, the software, your slide templates and unlimited support from our team in Chester. The television is yours to choose and mount. There is more detail on the Chrestos Signage package page, and our page on digital signage for churches explains how the control panel works.

What’s on

Keep the board
by the door

A screen indoors does not mean losing the board outside. Passers-by still need to know when you meet and who to ring, and a tidy outdoor board does that well. Many churches find the two work best together: the board outside carries the details that rarely change, and the screen inside carries everything that changes from week to week.

That means fewer posters to print, fewer drawing pins, and no more notices for events that finished a fortnight ago.

Change a notice
in a minute

Slides are written in the Chrestos Cloud or the Chrestos app, so a cancelled meeting or a change of time can be put right from wherever you are. You can set slides up weeks ahead, give each one a start and finish time, and choose how long it holds the screen.

If several people help, they can all have their own sign-in, and nobody needs the key to the notice board cupboard.
